Cannot run preview graph amcap как исправить

Windows XP Professional SP3.

  • ‘error 80004002 cannot run preview graph’: problems with webcams

  1. ‘error 80004002 cannot run preview graph’: problems with webcams

Hi, I have two webcams, an internal webcam that came with my dell inspiron 1720 vista home 32 which runs with dell webcam center and an external webcam that runs with AMcap. Both worked fine until last week.

opening the dell web cam center and starting the camera I receive the message: Failed to start video preview, please reconnect your camera.
While opening the external webcam with AMCap I receive the message: ‘error 80004002 cannot run preview graph.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both softwares. I have updated all the drivers. I have updated my nividia graphics card driver and still the same. Can anyone guess what the problem is and what a solution might be? I feel there must be something corrupted at a root level somewhere.

    many thanks

Ps, I found this thread on the forum where a user seems to have a similar issue but – the thread went a bit strange:

  2. Re: ‘error 80004002 cannot run preview graph’: problems with webcams

Make sure the web cam driver is properly installed along with the video driver (video card). Please update the DirectX version of Windows.

  3. Re: ‘error 80004002 cannot run preview graph’: problems with webcams

1: Please check Properties of My Computer> Hardware> Device Manager you have any device with an exclamation mark or cross in yellow or red, respectively.

2: If you do not have anything like that, check if your webcam device appears in the listing.

  4. Re: ‘error 80004002 cannot run preview graph’: problems with webcams

For that you need to follow the below steps mention.

    1) First of all you need to install the drivers by disabling all the non Microsoft services on your system.
    2) Then you need to uninstall the web cam drivers.
    3) Then you need to unplug the web cam and need to reboot your system.
    4) Then you need to go on your Start menu, then select Rund and then type in msconfig and press the enter key.
    5) Then on the General tab,you need to click on Selective Startup.
    6) Under Selective Startup, you need to click on clear the Load Startup Items check box.
    7) Then again click on the Services tab, then you need to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then you need to click on Disable All.
    8) Then click on OK. Then it ask you whether you would like to reboot your system, just click on Restart.
    9) Then you need to plugin the webcam back on your system and need to install the drivers.
    10) Then just reboot your system.

  5. Re: ‘error 80004002 cannot run preview graph’: problems with webcams

    Thanks for helping guys.

WMBrown, The drivers are there and my graphics card driver and Directx version is up to date.

Ronin Blade, I don’t see any warnings in the device manager, and yes they are listed.

Maxforu, One of the cameras is internal. Is there a way to ‘unplug’ it – A problem occurs when I uninstall the driver and reboot the machine. Vista automatically searches for this camera’s driver and installs it. Can I prevent this?

    Many thanks again.

  • Question

  • Hi,

i am faciing a headache about the WES7 webcam function.

I had choose the Usb video class during my installation, and I can find the device (sunny 2.0M webcam) in the list of device manager, without question mark or red cross. I also had amcap.exe which could preview the capture pictures.

The problem is once I click preview, there is a messagebox come out

message is  ” Error 80004002: cannot run preview graph “

is there any solution for this?

    Many thanks

  • Does this webcam work on Win7? If so it should work on WES7 with the right mix of drivers and feature sets. It sounds like you have the right drivers, but you are missing some feature packages. You can try using the dependency analyzer tool in ICE to
discover what dependencies the ampcap.exe has (note: that only detects static dependencies), and add those feature packages to your image. Also, what display driver did you use? Our inbox display drivers have dependencies, so if you used your own driver you
would want to add the same dependent packages our drivers have.

  • appreciating for your reply. my camera works well in Win7, and the camera driver versions are same (6.1.7600.16385) both in WES7 and win7. It seems the amcap.exe need some feature packages, but i donot know which exactly feature packages are needed, and
I tried to include almost all the feature packages (except the ones conflict with some others), however, the problem is as before. would you give me some advice about which feature packages are necessary for amcap.exe? BR RT13

  • There is no amcap.exe in Windows.
    But there: http://noeld.com/programs.asp?cat=video

“Mark/Propose As Answer” if you got one.

  • Thanks for the reply and guide.

I tried the installer of amcap, yet the problem was not solved, and I run camdiag.exe (download from noeld.com)

  • If you installed almost all the feature packages, then maybe you are missing a driver. A full image of WES7 is very similiar to Win7, so I think you should start with what we call a maxboot, just to get it working. Use ICE to add all the feature
and driver packages (important to do both) onto an unattend file. Use that unattend with IBW to create your image. See if the app works there. If not try uninstalling the webcam, and rescan for new devices. Also, verify the services
that were running in the Win7 image are also running in WES7. If it does work then you know you were missing a driver or feature package. You can use that maxboot image to get the exact list of drivers you need. Run tap.exe (see help in ICE) on the
image. That will give you a .pmq file that can be used in ICE and IBW when installing. Use that with the feature packages you originally installed, and you can see if it was a missing driver or feature package problem.

  • I have the same issue, installed everything but can make the webcam work.

    interface cannot support (0x80004002)

i got the same results as RT13. any other idea??

  • It might be a missing driver package. Do you have the following packages in the answer file?:

    • Still Image Acquistion Driver
    • USB Video
    • Microsoft WDM image Captuer (kscapture.inf)
    • Mirosoft Streaming Driver (KS)
    • Microsoft Streaming Filter (ksfilter.inf)
    • Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers
    • Microsoft UAA Function driver for High Definition Audio Service

  • Sean,

Is it possible to include all of the necessary components using the app compatibility template? If so what are the settings? Is this covered in your book?

  • The Application Compability template just pulls in all the Feature Packages. The driver packages get pulled in with a PMQ import, which the book covers.

  • Since the WES7 image lacks the correct UVC framework with just the feature packages is seems necessary to TAP a full Windows 7 x86 installation to create a PMQ that has references to the entire UVC framework required to support a USB camera ?
