This page is for when you encounter a problem with a source or the app.

# What are some common issues?

Java.lang.Exception: Failed to bypass Cloudflare means that the source you selected has Cloudflare protection on, refer to the Cloudflare guide to fix it. If the solutions provided do not fix the issue, the source has likely raised the Cloudflare protection level high enough that Tachiyomi is not able to access the site.

Possible reasons for HTTP error 403:

  • The source you selected has Cloudflare protection on, refer to the Cloudflare guide to fix it.
  • The source is down, removed the manga, or banned your IP. Open

HTTP error 404 probably means that the source is down or removed the manga. Open

HTTP error 429 or Too Many Requests means that the source banned your IP address (in most cases, it’s temporary) because you could be downloading or reading too fast. We suggest reporting

(opens new window) the issue so that a rate limit can be added to prevent IP bans in the future.

HTTP error 5xx like 500, 502 and others are server-side errors, and the source you are trying to access has problems on their side. Open the source in

HTTP error 1006 means that the source has banned your IP address (in most cases, it’s temporary).

HTTP error 1020 means that you have violated a firewall rule the site owner has put up. This usually means that the site owner has raised the Cloudflare protection level or that the site owner is blocking IPs outside their country.

Errors like Unable to resolve host, Connection failed, Failed to connect to, timeout, connection reset mean that something is preventing you from connecting to the source.

Possible reasons include:

  • Your internet connection is not good enough to connect.
  • The app does not have access to the internet.
  • Your ISP has blocked the site.
  • The site is down.

Try the following solutions to fix this issue:

java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException or Chain validation failed means there is a problem with validating source’s sertificate.

  • Check if the site’s certificate has expired. Use an online service for checking SSL certificates. If the certificate has expired, wait while the site owner to renew it.
  • Ensure that you have the right date and time set on your phone.

  • Most commonly, it is caused by full storage. Check to see if your device or SD Card is full.

The Cannot Access SD Card error can sometimes be fixed by changing the location of your downloads to somewhere else and back to the SD card, then restarting the app.

Having a file or folder name that is too long can also cause this issue. Android’s file manager does not support filenames longer than 255 characters. If you know the file or folder name that is the culprit, you can connect your SD card to your computer and shorten it. Otherwise, delete the Tachiyomi downloads folder off of the SD Card.

You may be getting a Cloudflare protection, may have been IP-banned, or encountered some other counter-measure that website owners deploy against programs like Tachiyomi. If that is the case, there is probably nothing that Tachiyomi can do to solve it. Some of them (like Cloudflare) have to be manually solved, and some are temporary (IP bans).

Workarounds that can the lower chance of an issue happening again:

  • Don’t use downloads with the source.
  • Have less manga in your library from the source.

The above are imprecise and fuzzy rules because each site has its non-public limits and triggers.

# Everyone is having this problem

If the site is reachable and fully functional, there may be an issue with the extension or app.

    Cloudflare is an anti-bot mechanism. Some sources intentionally have a higher Cloudflare protection level to block apps like Tachiyomi. You can try the following suggestions to help resolve Cloudflare challenges. If they don’t work, migrate to other sources or wait until they lower their protection.

The F-Droid build has a different signature than the official build, so you must backup your data, uninstall the app, then restore the data in a fresh install.

    Спасибо за приложение. Синхронизация с MAL’ом — то, что долго искал. С удовольствием перекатился к вам.
    Из каталогов — senmanga бы не помешала (мобильная версия сайта менее грузная, рекламы и капчи в ней не замечал).

    Нашёл баг. В меню «Отслеживание» переключатель подтверждения не фиксируется во включенном положении. Видео прикрепил. Версия 0.5.1

    Да, в папке Tachiyomi рядом с папкой downloads создавай папку local, и добавляй туда мангу в формате «Название манги/Главы»
    В данный момент поддерживается cbz/zip, cbr/rar, epub. Но автор рекомендует использовать zip формат.

    Для того чтобы читать необходимо в каталоге отркыть источник Local manga, и выбрать необходимую.
    Есть неприятный баг, когда локальный источник не отображается, тогда необходимо в настройках включить категорию с английскими источниками(Чтобы они не мешали сами источники можно выключить).

    tvoe_razocharovanie, для внешней карты путь должен быть примерно такой:
    «/sdcard/Tachiyomi/local»
    Причём оба эти пути будут объединяться

    Хорошая читалка, нравится, что умеет кропать белые поля, проверять апдейты (с автоскачкой) только для указанной группы.
    Гибкие фильтры во всех списках и автоматическое удаление прочитанных глав (с настройкой, сколько прочитанных оставлять).

    Из минусов — мало источников и как-то криво работает с ридмангой: при работе с каталогом 417 ошибка очень часто. Нет внешней синхронизации.

    В смысле синхронизация между устройствами. Как в openmanga или хотя бы как в mangarock.

    Скачал потыкал, вроде неплохая читалка, будем следить за развитием. До этого использовал mangawatcher, пока тот не загнулся и не получил убогий форк, где кроме рекламы ничего и не было. После того пересел на Manga Reader, но тот уже пару дней не хочет грузить страницы по WiFi. Надеюсь эта читалка будет жить и развиваться.

    И тоже столкнулся с ошибкой 417, неприятная штука, надеюсь зафиксят.

    Да 417 возникает в момент поиска, но если удалось ее поймать, то и мангу с каталога она уже не грузит с той же ошибкой. При этом допустим при смене интернета она исчезает, к примеру был подцеплен по вафле, поймал 417, ушен на 3g ошибки нет, пока не словишь на 3g.
    С режимами пролистывания разобрался, webtoon прям то что надо и подхватывает переход страниц лучше чем во многих других читалках.
    И еще вопрос с каталогом mangachan возник, он только у меня страницы манги прогружает либо неприлично долго, либо и вовсе выдает ошибку загрузки и предлагает повтор или открыть в браущере?
    Просто сам каталог прогружается нормально, а если пыташься почитать саму мангу, то между прогрузкой страниц я выспаться успел.

    Из хотелок, раз уж здесь подобное реализовано, то было бы круто видеть синхронизацию с shikimori.org Ну и наверно, можно еще каталогов манги накидать, ато и каталогов с просто комиксами.

    In many cases, the problem does not persist on the user side. It is highly likely that the server itself is down. In this scenario, no matter whatever you try to do and figure out, the error stays in. So, the best possible solution for this error is to source in Webview. To do this, first select the manga or comic you want to read. In this section, click on the three dots menu on top right corner and select Open in WebView. Lastly, verify the captcha and see if that resolves the error.

    Error 403: 

    Just like the above one, error 403 also carries a similar approach. Indeed, one of the methods to fix this error is to follow the above steps as mentioned. In many cases, it should work fine. But if the problem lies in WebView, then you need to install or update Android System WebView. This can be done in the Google Play Store.

    Error 404: 

    Tachiyomi aside, error 404 is infamous for the message Server not found. So, the same is the case with Tachiyomi here. Now, whenever Tachiyomi throws error 404 then it is sure that the content you want to access is not available. So, the best way to deal with this error is to cross check the availability.

    In short, these methods should work in most of the cases. So, make sure to follow these steps and fix those annoying errors.     Steps to reproduce

    Whenever i click the update button or select a source i get the error 404 and 403. I use MangaLife and mangakakolot extensions.

    Expected behavior

    It should just update my manga and look for chapter instead of giving me an error message that all Mangas were unable to be updated.

    Actual behavior

    I get the 404 and 403 error. I tried the methods on the troubleshooting page but no luck. I am unsure if there is an issue with the extensions or the app itself. I suppose the app as the Asura Scans extension works.
