One of the most common questions new players of Forge of Empires have is finding a guild to join. More specifically, how to search for a specific guild that they already know the name of. Knowing that the interface is not always so easy to navigate, I thought I would share with you exactly how to do this here today.

So, how do you search for a guild? From the general game interface, at the top of the screen you will see a laurel wreath which shows your rankings. Click on this wreath and then click guilds. From there, use the search box to search for the guild you are specifically looking for.

From there, you can open guilds up and clock to apply. Alternatively, it is also possible to get a friend to ask one of the leaders of the guild to send you an invite to join.

It is important to note that you will have to make some progress to unlock the guilds feature and have at least progressed to the Bronze Age.

The guilds feature is unlocked by clicking the “this technology unlocks” shield in the research tree:

Before this time, you will be able to search for guilds, but you will not be able to look at guild descriptions.

Then, once you have joined a guild, there are several things that you will need to unlock and make progress towards.

For instance, in the Iron Age, you need to unlock the great building contribution for the Guild Expedition.

Can You Search For A Guild Via The Mobile App?

At time of writing, the only way that you can currently search for a guild is via the dektop, PC version.

While you can contact guild members for an invite via the mobile application, the search functionality is not present via the app.

While on mobile, you will need to click on your picture at the bottom of the screen. This will enable you to see your ranking, and again the guilds. Medals and Great Buildings cannot be seen on mobile however.

What Are Guilds?

As part of a guild you can play together with friends, or make new allegiances with other players.

There are many benefits to being in a guild, which we will discuss shortly below but the mains ones are that you can get advice, motivate and even trade with other players. Equally, you can take part in some of the games more exciting aspects, such as Guild Expeditions, Guild Battlegrounds and Guild vs Guild.

Some players, and friends, may invite you to join their guild. Alternatively, you can create your won guild (if you’re not a member of another) and invite other players.

Going to your guild tab is the central interface for managing this aspect of the game. Here you will see any invites, apply to join other guilds or create your own.

By doing so, you can create your own name. It is also recommended that you give your guild an exciting and appealing description to ensure that other players will want to join,

Benefits of Joining A Guild

Being part of a guild has three main benefits:

1. It makes trading easier,
2. You gain access to a guild chat forum,
3. Join battles and fight other guilds on the continent map.

When in a guild, you will often find that other guild members will support you and help you progress. For example, they may polish your cultural buildings giving you a higher chance of obtaining enthusiastic population (where you benefit from a +20% coin and supply boost).

Additionally, fellow guild members will likely be willing to trade with you at better rates, although you should do the same in return.

Finally

Despite being only a few clicks, knowing how to search for guilds can be quite a challenge to find yourself at first.

Hopefully this quick intro has given you the information you need to go out and search for a new guild, and why you might want to consider it if you have not already but have reached the Bronze Age!

A Guild is a network of players in Forge of Empires that assist each other by giving advice, motivating and polishing, and fulfilling trades. Guilds may also participate in Guild Expeditions, Guild Battlegrounds (GBG), and Guild vs. Guild (GvG).

Requirements[]

As of update to 1.49 players need to research the technology of smithery before being able to join or create a guild.

Creating A Guild[]

To start a guild, click the “Global” icon (looks like three people) on your toolbar. In the resulting pop-up menu, click the shield icon. This will open a new window listing the invitations to other Guilds, if you have any. It will also have a section called “Start Your Own Guild” where, you guessed it, you can start your own guild, as long as you do not already belong to a guild. Otherwise you must quit any guild before being able to create one.

Name[]

In the “Start Your Own Guild” section, enter the name of your Guild and click “Create”. This name will appear in your player profile and in search results.

The Guild Profile will now open. 

Guild Flag[]

You can choose a flag to represent your Guild. 49 Guild Flags are free to use.

12 Premium Guild Flags can be purchased. Each one costing 200 Diamonds.

Description[]

This section can include the basic goals of the Guild, qualifications for membership, and a list of the Guild leadership. The Description can only be changed on the Administration tab.

Inviting Other Players[]

If you are a member with Inviter privileges and can see the Administration tab on the Guid’s profile page, you can invite other players to join your Guild.  The number of members in your guild plus outstanding invitations may not exceed 80.

Roles and Permissions[]

Founder[]

A member with Founder rights is in total control of the Guild and has all the rights and privileges listed below. When you start a Guild, you are the Founder.

Leader[]

A member with Leader rights has all the permissions of a Moderator and Inviter and is granted Trusted privileges. A Leader can also change the Guild’s description and crest. A member with Leader rights can also delete and remove armies in GvG Provinces, as well as remove a siege that has been laid. A leader can kick guild members.

Inviter[]

A member with Inviter rights can invite members and accept applications.

Moderator[]

A member with Moderator rights can administer guild’s message center.

Trusted[]

A member with the Trusted rights has the ability to lay sieges in GvG Provinces, and thus utilize goods from the Guild Treasury. They are also allowed to move GvG province HQ’s once a day.

Battleground officer[]

A member with Battleground officer rights can build and destroy province buildings within the Guild Battlegrounds, as well as mark or unmark provinces.

Joining A Guild[]

You can’t join a Guild that does not have auto-join without an invitation. To get an invitation, search for a Guild by using the Guild Search feature. This can be found by clicking the Ranking box (with the laurel wreath icon) at the top left of the main window and then clicking the Guilds tab. Once you find a Guild that looks interesting, click on the Guild’s name and then Guild Profile. That Guild’s profile page will now appear. Send a message to one of the Guild Leadership asking for an invite.

Leaving A Guild[]

If you wish to leave your current guild, either to join another Guild or to go it alone for a while, go to your Guild’s profile page and click the Members tab. Find your username and click the red “Leave Guild” button at the far right. You’ll have to wait 7 days if you want to rejoin that guild.

Guild Hopping[]

It is common for players to join a guild and then leave a few minutes later; such players are usually trying to motivate and polish buildings of as many people as possible to either get blueprints for Great Buildings or get Coins (motivating and polishing can be a major source of income in the very early ages). Also such players might be joining templorarily to access guild trades without having to pay forge points for them or to invest in GB (sniping).

To prevent guild hopping, the joining conditions for the guild have to be set to anything other than “via auto-join”.

Guild Profile[]

Profile[]

This tab shows the name of your Guild, basic information, current members, and your Guild’s description. This tab is visible to everyone.

Members[]

This tab shows a list of current members and their roles and permissions. This tab is visible to everyone.

Level[]

This tab shows a graph indicating the current power level of the Guild and how many points are needed to reach the next level. The power level is increased by gaining Guild Power, either from participating in Guild vs. Guild (GvG), Guild Expeditions, Guild Battlegrounds or from certain building collections of guild’s members. At each level, different bonuses and boosts are afforded to each member. This tab is visible to everyone. [see also Guild Level]

Treasury[]

This tab displays the Guild’s stockpile of goods and gives you the option of donating goods from your own stockpile to the treasury. This tab is only visible to Guild members.

Administration[]

You will only see this tab if you have Founder, Leader, or Inviter, permissions.

Here you can invite players to join your guild. Just enter their username.
