Object reference not set to an instance of an object как исправить 7 days

Reset to default game start options.

EXC NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

what to do? an error constantly pops up after the update. “EXC NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object”

Showing 115 of 23 comments

For starters, you type “NullReferenceException” into the search box….

Really? All I found was “delete saves”. I re-deleted everything I could, ran a file check and… Nothing! The error has not gone away. Should I enter this again, and for the 10th time check the recommendation for deleting saves that are no longer there?

You should follow the instructions in the pinned threads of the Support/Bug Reports section. I’ll move your thread there.

What instructions? I’m sitting, my partner in the game is sitting, and we’re probably blind, since we don’t see instructions for this error. Kindly stick this instruction in our face.

Do you have any mods installed? If so, does the issue occur if you remove them?

There are no installed mods. And they were not installed even after deleting and downloading the game. Nothing has changed, the error remains.

Anytime you uninstall / re-install and / or update to a new version, you should run the launcher tools to clean out old data from the Windows Registry. Here’s how;

First, backup your save and map files if you intend on resuming a previous game session. Then;
Run 7d2d launcher.exe, switch to ‘tools’ tab, click ‘Clean’ and select all the options to clean. Switch back to main tab, disable EAC–if not needed–and Anaylitics then, select ‘Run and save settings.’ Next, at game’s main menu–options, optimize your video settings. See this thread for pointers on that;

*Note* Most rigs meeting minimum specs should have very little fps issues with the Medium preset w/exception of reflections settings which need to be at Low or even off for best results. Shadow distance at Med. and dynamic mesh, occlusion, possibly Dynamic music, all disabled.

Close out game. Copy your save and map files back to appropriate user folders. Re-launch game and continue your game.
Optionally, create a new map then exit the game so RAM is flushed. Then, launch and start a new game using your new RWG map.

And, if that don’t fix the issue, check to be sure you don’t have some old mods left in a ‘mods’ folder either in Steam’s 7d2d directory and / or user’s AppdataRoaming 7d2d folder. If so, delete the files inside the ‘mods’ folder(s) or move them temporarily.

I did everything exactly as you told me. What can I say. It helped. Now I can choose/create a character, but now I can’t even launch a new game, nor continue (although this is logical, the worlds are erased)!
now shows the error
EXC ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index

Or it is possible that I did something wrong, because the translator could not translate something correctly in the instructions.

Your server and your client must both be using the exact same version as each other. It sounds like you may have a server using version A20.4 possibly? While your client is probably up to date automatically by steam so, it’s A20.5? This error is normally caused by a version mismatch either between server and client or client version and what’s in the Windows Registry. The method I gave earlier will clear the registry values so it gets updated to the proper values–possibly need to re-‘verify files’ in game properties.

If it’s a version mismatch then obviously you’d need to update one or downgrade the other by opting into a beta and setting it to the proper version. Should do an uninstall and re-install at that point, then run the launcher tools to clean old data afterward then verify files.

they are both on A20.3 because it was the latest version availeble on my server host
