I am wondering if you get access to a mining facility for cobalt like you do for carbonium

Sure – rare elements mine. (HQ4)

Do a research that lets you get a detector for cobalt. After that hold down space and keep moving until there is a blue “X” on the ground. Another thing to note, when you do manage to find a sweet spot, its not a guaranteed cobalt find which kinda sucks making cobalt more of a rare resource than common.

I have the cobalt handling researched. I then press spacebar and found went to a spot where its saying there is cobalt.. But how do I actually mine it now that I found it?

nvm I figure it out, I walked around a bit more and got the blue X to show up.

how much later on? i cant find it in the tech tree at all, i’ve unearthed several cobalt deposits and i dont want to mine it manually anymore lol

rare element mine, does a couple of different element like the cobalt and other advanced ore

You’ll find tree flower things around. Looks like a boxy red X on map. You have to hold space on them for 10 seconds. Just hold space for about a second as you’ll have 2 small groups of the small critters spawn and come after you. Kill them, finish the flower, hopefully you get cobalt. Other than some of the more advanced creatures you’re going to need a deposit. But until you find one the tree flower things should be sufficient for crafting and upgrades.

use space bar to hunt for it until you can build what you need with it to find more.

Note; the initial cobalt finding thing on the first map does use that whole spacebar scanner bit.

However, once you warp to a different area on the planet (from the menu, not the map), a specific ‘cobalt mining area’ map opens up and cobalt is just laying around like carbonite there.

Must use special mining platform which is researched as mentioned above by aY227
